One team for the whole of Germany

Germany has no single copyright court. Copyright cases are heard at first instance by the regional courts (Landgerichte), and in many federal states specific courts have been designated for copyright disputes. Because online infringements can often be brought before several courts, choosing the right venue is part of the strategy. With offices in the north, south, east and west of the country, our lawyers are familiar with the practice of the courts in the major media and business centres, from Hamburg and Berlin to Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart.

For foreign rights holders this is particularly practical: you instruct one firm, receive reports in English from a single contact person and do not need to coordinate several local law firms within Germany. Where matters extend beyond Germany, we coordinate with our cooperation offices in Vienna, Zurich, London, Taiwan and Paris and our worldwide network. More on this under International.

Meetings and remote advice

Most international clients never need to travel to Germany. We hold meetings by video conference, exchange documents electronically and sign engagement letters digitally where possible. If you prefer to meet in person, please arrange an appointment in advance so that the lawyer responsible for your matter can be present.
