Languages
We advise in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese and Korean. Contracts, letters and submissions for international counterparties can be drafted bilingually. Proceedings before German courts are conducted in German; we translate and explain all relevant documents for you.
How to instruct us
- Tell us about your matter. Send a short description by email or call us. Please include the names of all parties involved so that we can carry out the conflict check required by German professional rules.
- Send the key documents. For example the warning letter received, the contract, screenshots or links to the infringing content, and any deadlines.
- Initial assessment and costs. We give you a first assessment and explain the expected costs – based on the German Lawyers’ Remuneration Act (RVG) or on an agreed hourly or flat fee.
- Engagement. Once you have agreed, we confirm the engagement in writing and you sign a power of attorney. From then on, a named lawyer is your point of contact.
Please note that an attorney-client relationship is only established when we have expressly confirmed it. Sending an email alone does not create an engagement, and we cannot guarantee that deadlines will be met on the basis of an unconfirmed message. If a deadline is imminent – for example in a cease-and-desist letter – please call us.
Confidentiality
As German lawyers and patent attorneys we are bound by a statutory duty of professional secrecy (in particular Section 43a(2) of the Federal Lawyers’ Act (BRAO), Section 2 of the Professional Rules for Lawyers (BORA) and Section 203 of the German Criminal Code). This duty already applies to information you share with us when making an enquiry, whether or not an engagement follows. Unencrypted email can in principle be read by third parties in transit; if you wish to send particularly sensitive information, please let us know and we will agree on a suitable channel. Details on data processing: Privacy policy.
